K-12 Workshops & Master Classes

Tilles Center provides in-school workshops in dance, theatre and music to prepare students for performances at Tilles Center.

Workshops: Workshops are experiential and led by a Tilles Center teaching artist who will co-plan with your school’s representative by phone prior to the visit. Workshops are usually 45 minutes – 1 hour with a maximum of 30 students per class and require a large, open space with plenty of room to move (an open auditorium stage, library or multi-purpose room is ideal. Gyms and cafeterias are not ideal due to bad acoustics.)

Master Classes: World-class touring artists that perform on the Tilles stage are sometimes available to teach dance, theatre or music master classes in area schools. In-school master class artists have included artists from companies such as Pilobolus, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The New York Theatre Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and more.
